USC Trojans Star Defensive Lineman Named To 2024 Bronko Nagurski Watch List

USC Trojans defensive powerhouse, Bear Alexander , has landed a spot on the 2024 Bronko Nagurski Watch List, as revealed by the Football Writers Association on July 30. This esteemed trophy, named in honor of Bronko Nagurski, is awarded each year to college football’s top defensive player.

Bear Alexander, who transferred from Georgia ahead of the 2023 season, quickly made his presence felt on the Trojan defensive line. In his first year with USC, Alexander racked up 48 tackles, including 6.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks.

He also led the team with four quarterback hurries, forced two fumbles, recovered one, and notched a pass breakup.

His stellar performance earned him a spot on the 2023 Phil Steele All-Pac-12 First Team and an honorable mention for the All-Pac-12 team.

As he gears up for his junior season in 2024, Alexander has already been named to the Phil Steele 2024 Preseason All-American Fourth Team, as well as the Phil Steele and Athlon Sports 2024 Preseason All-Big Ten Second Teams.

He will be a formidable presence in the trenches once again, aiming to continue the legacy of USC’s standout defenders, like Tuli Tuipulotu , who was a finalist for the Nagurski Award in 2022.

The Football Writers Association and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will reveal the finalists for the 2024 Bronko Nagurski Trophy on November 20, with the winner being announced at the awards banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina, on December 9.
