The Paris Olympics has already proven to be one of the most beautifully executed and star-studded games in recent memory, with performances from Lady Gaga and Celiné Dion during the opening ceremony and huge talent like Steven Spielberg and Beyoncé shooting promotional videos for the events. However, it seems this is just the beginning, as reports now say the closing ceremony will see a special stunt performed by none other than Tom Cruise.

Cruise has been seen multiple times during the games, even recently being spotted yesterday at the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics All-Around Final with David Zaslav and Christopher McQuarrie. He also posed for a photo with Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, Gerwig, Steven Spielberg, McQuarrie, and fans.

What fans may not be expecting are Cruise’s plans to take part in the event himself. According to reports, Cruise will transition the Olympic Games from this year’s home in Paris to 2028’s setting in Los Angeles. Details regarding the closing ceremony remain under lock-and-key, but one detail that is known is that Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo will be passing off the Olympic flag to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. The responsibility of who carries that flag from Point A to Point B seems to be in the very capable hands of Mr. Cruise.

NBC Sports declined to comment on this story. IndieWire reached out to representatives for Cruise, but received no response.

Cruise was previously spotted filming something around the Hollywood sign last March. As they did with Lady Gaga’s performance during the opening ceremony, a portion of Cruise’s stunt will most likely be pre-recorded, but his presence in Paris may indicate an in-person element as well.

According to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics, the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony on July 26 had 29 million people glued to their TVs. Compared to the pandemic-delayed 2021 Tokyo Olympics, which took place in empty stadiums and had 17 million viewers across NBC platforms, that’s a growth of 60 percent. Los Angeles previously hosted in 1932 and 1984 and will host the next Summer Olympics in 2028. Those games will run from July 14-30 and are chaired by entertainment executive Casey Wasserman. Unlike past years, Los Angeles will utilize spaces that have already been built like the Coliseum, as well Crypto.com Arena, the Convention Center, the L.A. Football Club Stadium, USC’s Galen Center, and the Peacock Theater.
