Dodgers Star Freddie Freeman Drops Frightening Personal News

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Freddie Freeman has been away from the team since last week as he continues to attend to a family emergency. Freeman's son, Maximus, is currently in the midst of a health battle.

On Thursday, Freeman and his wife Chelsea shared a scary update on their child, who is dealing with a case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome--which is a "neurological condition that is especially rare in children."

"Hi All, We wanted to give an update on Maximus. Last Friday, Max rapidly declined and went into full body paralysis. We are very fortunate to have gotten him to the hospital in time so they could reinforce his lungs" the couple stated in a joint post on Instagram.

"Freddie was in Houston at the time and rushed to the first flight back home. After many tests, Max is battling a severe case of Guillain-Barré syndrome."

It must be a frightening time for Freeman and the family. It does sound like Max is recovering though, which is certainly a positive sign.

The Dodgers first baseman hasn't played since July 25th. Freeman is hitting .288 on the year with 16 home runs and 67 RBI. While LA certainly misses his presence in the lineup, this is bigger than baseball.

All of Dodger Nation and fans across baseball are praying for Max to have a smooth recovery. This is a very difficult time for Freddie Freeman and his family, but their strength is surely helping. They have the support of the entire MLB world.
