The Los Angeles Dodgers are welcoming back first baseman Freddie Freeman on Monday after he missed time because of his son's scary health battle. Ahead of their series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies, the team showed their love for the superstar and his family in the most heartwarming way possible.

Freeman's son, Max, is dealing with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that resulted in the 3-year-old going into full-body paralysis. While he's now home from the hospital, it's still a frightening situation for any parent to go through, hence why Freeman hasn't been in the Dodgers lineup.

That being said, Los Angeles knows how to support their own and all wore "Max Strong" shirts in batting practice. Via Jon Morosi of MLB Network:

Freeman also spoke to reporters and emotionally said he and his wife wish they could switch spots with Max.

"No one should have to go through with this, especially a 3-year-old," Freeman said, via ESPN's Alden Gonzalez. "I don’t know how many times Chelsea and I said we wish we could switch.”

Max has reportedly begun physical therapy and appears to be heading in the right direction in rehab.

"Max still has a long road ahead of him to regain his strength and relearn how to walk. But we are so thankful to have our family back together," Freddie and Chelsea Freeman said in a post on Instagram.
