It is a long and somber list: Angelenos who perished in the September 11 terrorist attacks 23 years ago who will be honored Thursday at the Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden . Among the 2,996 who died on that dark day were dozens of Los Angeles residents, many of them entertainment and music luminaries,

Pasadena residents, David Angell, the Emmy-award winning television writer and producer who counted "Frasier" among his hits, died with his wife Lynn, on American Airlines Flight 11. Berry Berenson , a noted photographer and actor who raised two children with her late husband Anthony Perkins of "Psycho" fame, was returning to her Hollywood Hills home, like the Angells, after vacationing on Cape Cod when she perished in the attacks.

Carolyn Beug of Santa Monica died with her mother on that same flight. She was a force in the music industry and a mother of three who won an MTV Award for a "Van Halen" video she produced. A road crew carpenter for the "Backstreet Boys" tour Dan Lee from Van Nuys who left Boston that morning to be at his wife's side as she gave birth to their daughter, who is named after her slain father: Danielle.

Those victims, and many more, will be remembered at a service at the gorgeous Beverly Hills 9/11 memorial Thursday evening. The piece is constructed from "a historic steel artifact that once served as a structural member at the World Trade Center site. It is supported by a Pentagon shaped base and prominently looks out, ever vigilant, towards the symbolic Twin Towers and the field of greenery representing Shanksville," Pennsylvania where a plane headed towards the Pentagon crashed.

The founders of the Beverly Hills 9/11 memorial encased copies of the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, Gettysburg Address, and a piece of the aircraft from Flight 77 along with the Captain’s insignia wings.
