A Compton jury on Wednesday found Freddie Lee Trone guilty of murdering rapper PnB Rock two years ago during a robbery at a Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles restaurant.

PnB Rock (real name Rakim Allen) was wearing “several hundred thousand dollars” worth of jewelry on the day he was murdered, prosecutors said, and had posted photos wearing the loot on Instagram.

Trone and another defendant, Tremont Jones, who was also convicted of two counts of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, noticed the post and sent Trone's 17-year-old son to rob the rapper, according to prosecutors.

The teen pulled on a mask on September 12, 2022 and stalked up to the rapper while he was seated at a table in the South L.A. eatery, pulled a gun and demanded his jewels.

When the rapper refused, prosecutors said, the teenager shot him first in the chest and then twice more in the back. He then fled with several pieces of jewelry he ripped from the rappers body before fleeing the restaurant with his father, according to a criminal complaint

The son, who was not identified because he was a minor at the time of the murder, is being held in a juvenile facility and will face a competency hearing next month.

“Today, justice has been served for Mr. Allen and his family who have endured unimaginable pain losing a loved one to such senseless violence,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said.

The men convicted in the case are slated to be sentenced on August 27. Another relative of the teen's, Shauntel Trone, pleaded no contest to accessory after the fact on July 16, 2024. She is scheduled to be sentenced on January 16, 2025, in Dept. D of the Compton Courthouse.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to them and the entire community. Thank you to my office’s Community Violence Reduction Division for their unwavering commitment to seek justice for Mr. Allen and hold Mr. Trone and Mr. Jones accountable for their actions. Let this serve as a clear message to anyone who threatens the safety and well-being of our community: our office will relentlessly pursue charges and work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.”
