Imagine flying over LA traffic like a billionaire, but with zero emissions. That’s the dream Archer Aviation is aiming to make a reality with their electric air taxis by 2026.

Archer’s eVTOL aircraft promises 10-20 minute flights, covering trips that normally take hours by car. The plan? A network of vertiports at key locations like LAX, SoFi Stadium, USC, and more.

These electric aircraft, known as Midnight, can hit speeds up to 150mph and fly multiple 20-50 mile trips before recharging. Plus, they’re 100 times quieter than helicopters, making city travel smoother and quieter, according to TimeOut .

As L.A. preps for the 2028 Olympics, Archer’s proposed vertiports include sports-centric sites at USC, SoFi Stadium, and near the Rams’ practice facility in Woodland Hills.

Booking a flight? It’ll be as easy as hailing a rideshare, thanks to Archer’s app. Prices will start high but are expected to drop as the service matures.

But before takeoff, Archer needs FAA certification and to ramp up production. They’re working with major partners like United Airlines and USC to secure locations and infrastructure.

"Our goal is to offer a safer, faster, and sustainable alternative," says Archer’s CEO, Adam Goldstein. With global events like the World Cup and Olympics on the horizon, LA’s infamous traffic might finally meet its match.

While air taxis are exciting, Metro and buses will still be key for most during the Olympics. It’s all about offering choices in a city known for its traffic woes.
