Belen Schools offers mental health help
BELEN — One local school district is offering parents free resources to help with the mental health of their children. Belen Consolidated Schools has partnered with the Cook Center for Human Connection and its website, parentguidance.org. The free online resources cover a variety of topics, such as living with a child with depression, identifying anxiety and coping with grief and loss. The courses offered are delivered by licensed therapists.

Sanostee man pleads guilty in fatal drunken driving crash
A Sanostee man pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque for his involvement in a fatal drunken driving crash. Leonardo Robbie Duncan, 33, admitted he was driving while intoxicated on Aug. 12, 2023, when he crossed the center line on Navajo Route 36 near Upper Fruitland. Duncan admitted in court that he “crashed head-on into the passenger side” of a vehicle, killing the man and woman inside of it, according to court records.
