The New Mexico Environmental Department issued a boil water advisory Thursday, July 18 for the North Ranchos De Placitas Water & Sanitation District Water System. The advisory was issued after fecal coliform (E. coli) bacteriological contamination was confirmed in drinking water in the water system. New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority celebrates grand opening of East Paraje Apartments at Pueblo of Laguna
PUEBLO OF LAGUNA, N.M. – In an area the Pueblo of Laguna has identified as the K’awaika Center Master Plan, which promotes specific concerted revitalization activities, the newly developed East Paraje Apartments will be home to 20 families. Hosted by the Laguna Housing Development and Management Enterprise, New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) officials attended the grand opening ceremony for the apartments on July 17.
Kind Bread Company to close this month
Kind Bread Company, a four-year-old bakery off S. Solano Drive, recently announced it would close July 27. Owner and baker Samantha Kindred delivered the news in a video posted to Instagram on July 5. In the video, Kindred said that medical issues will prevent her from being able to focus on the bakery.
New Principal Adds 90% Attendance Policy
At the meeting of the Jal School Board this past Monday, during the principal’s and superintendent’s reports, Jal High School Principal Buddy Little noted an addition to the student handbook concerning attendance. Last year, according to Little, there was no requirement that students attend a certain number of days of school in order to get credit. Previous to this coming school year (2024-2025) the only policy was that students had 10 days to make up missed assignments, but Little also noted that it was up to the teacher how strict they wanted to enforce this rule, and that it was never consistently upheld by the teachers. He said, “This one has a little more bite to it.”

Pool play games in Connie Mack World Series begin Friday
FARMINGTON – The Frackers will open pool play in the Connie Mack World Series on Friday, July 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Worley Field against a team still to be determined. The pool play brackets were announced and released this week by the American Amateur Baseball Congress. The Frackers, the host team for the CMWS, were entered into Pool B, along with the Dallas-based D-Bat United. All 12 teams will play three games over the course of Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 with games at Worley Field, the Farmington Sports Complex and at Ricketts Park.
