Earlier this month the University of Maryland College of Education has named former MCPS superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight as its inaugural Dean’s Fellow and Superintendent in Residence, effective August 23. The decision was met with mixed reactions, with some supportive of the hiring and others against it to the point of a petition being created asking the university to reverse its decision to hire McKnight. Moderately MOCO reported this evening that McKnight’s salary is “$150,000 for a 9 month appointment.”

$10 million approved for projects in West Virginia
CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — $10 million was announced for water and sewer projects in the Mountain State by the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council. For the upcoming school year, all children entering school in West Virginia grades K-12 must show proof of immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B unless a medical exemption is approved by DH. Additional proof of immunization is required for children entering grades 7 and 12 for diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, and meningococcal disease unless a medical exemption is approved by DH.
