Orioles GM offers injury updates on several players
Orioles general manager Mike Elias spoke to reporters (including Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports) ahead of Saturday's game against the Rays, offering updates on several injured players. First and foremost, he expressed optimism regarding starter Grayson Rodriguez, who landed on the 15-day IL last week. Elias described Rodriguez’s right lat/teres injury as “pretty mild” – much less serious than the similar injury he suffered in 2022 – and said the team is hoping to have him back in the rotation by late September. The young right-hander has a 3.86 ERA across 20 starts this season, and Elias made it clear that the Orioles are still hopeful he will play an “enormous” role for the team come October.

Orioles add former All-Star to bolster infield depth for stretch run
Looking to bolster their infield depth following injuries to Jordan Westburg and Jorge Mateo, along with the trade of Connor Norby, the Orioles have signed veteran infielder Jean Segura to a minor-league contract. This move follows the Orioles signing veteran corner-infielder J.D. Davis to a minor league deal, and signifies an interest in adding veterans to potentially back up the Orioles young starting infield.
Controversy swirls over plan to expand Tradepoint harbor
Tradepoint Atlantic wants to expand so cargo ships can dock and unload there, not just at the Port of Baltimore. It has already found a business partner in the Mediterranean Shipping Company, the largest shipping company in the world, according to a Baltimore County press release. The only problem: To expand, it needs to dig up the sediment at the bottom of its harbor in a process known as dredging to reach the required 50 feet in depth. And that sediment could be toxic, residents...

AFC Injury Updates: Ojabo, Fautanu, Wallow, Smith
The Ravens saw their leading edge rusher depart in free agency this offseason when Jadeveon Clowney signed with the Panthers. While the team did work to retain other top sack-getters in Justin Madubuike and Kyle Van Noy, it decided to depend on recent draft picks to replace the production lost in Clowney’s departure. Unfortunately, one of those recent draft picks is still working to get healthy as head coach John Harbaugh announced that outside linebacker David Ojabo was not cleared to play in last night’s preseason game, per Jamison Hensley of EPSN.

Discover Patrick Reilly: Emerging O’s Pitching Prospect After Trade
Patrick Reilly, a right-handed pitcher recently traded to the Baltimore Orioles from the Pittsburgh Pirates, is quickly becoming an exciting prospect in their farm system. Originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 MLB Draft, Reilly has climbed the ranks to become the No. 15 prospect in Baltimore. Following a solid start to the season with a 3.38 ERA at High-A Greensboro, he made a strong debut at Double-A Bowie, showing promise in his first outing with the new team. The Orioles acquired him in a one-for-one trade, aiming to bolster their pitching prospects after recently losing another to a different trade. Reilly is eager to continue his development and ultimately establish himself as a reliable starter.
Ravens, Panthers Could Fight Over Same Free Agent Following Devastating Injury
Stephon Gilmore is the best cornerback remaining on the free agent market, and he could see an uptick in interest following an injury to Ravens first-round pick Nate Wiggins. Wiggins made his NFL debut on Friday and showed plenty of promise, breaking up three passes while showing the ball skills that made him such a coveted prospect. However, the rookie suffered an injury while making a tackle early in the third quarter.

Over the past eight seasons, Anthony Santander has become an integral part of the Orioles franchise. If it were up to him, the soon-to-be free agent would continue to prowl right field in Camden Yards for years to come. According to Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun, Santander “would like...
