Child Development Center seeks children for the Virginia Preschool Initiative
The ACCA Child Development Center in Annandale has openings for about 40 children, including 20 slots available under the Virginia Preschool Initiative. The VPI program provides funding to schools and community-based organizations, such as the CDC, to ensure at-risk 4-year-olds not served by Head Start are ready for kindergarten. Participating schools receive additional funds to help eligible children meet their learning goals.

Authorities: Maryland woman who was found dead in Canton Township died by suicide
CANTON TWP. – A 24-year-old woman who was found dead on Friday afternoon died by suicide, a spokeswoman for the Stark County Sheriff's Office said. The deceased, who was from Maryland, was found near railroad tracks along Trump Avenue SE, south of Orchard View Drive SE in Canton Township. She appeared to have died only minutes before she was discovered by a motorist driving on Trump Avenue, said Harry Campbell, chief investigator of the Stark County Coroner's Office. Five teenagers arrested for carjacking in Northwest DC
WASHINGTON — Five teens were arrested for carjacking on Friday, with one being as young as 14 years old. At 9:05 p.m. Friday night, the five teenagers approached two people who had just got out their car on P Street in Northwest D.C. The teenagers attacked the two people and took a phone and the car keys. The teenagers then fled in the victims’ car. The two people sustained minor injuries and were treated by D.C.’s Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service.
