LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. — After a heated few weeks in Loudon County Commission meetings, with well over a dozen community members speaking out against a tax levy, commissioners voted to pass a $0.25 property increase Monday. Sarah Katheryne (Watkins) Bledsoe, age 81 of Philadelphia, TN passed away Thursday, June 28, 2024. Sarah was a lifelong resident of Loudon County born to James Paul and Blanche Agnes (Johnson) Watkins. Sarah was an educator with 32 years of service as an English teacher leaving a lasting impact on a multitude of students in the Loudon County School System. She along with her husband Roy were very active in Loudon County Republican politics. She served as Past Chairman of the Loudon County Republican Party and the Loudon County Republican Women. She was honored to be a member of the initial group of people inducted into the Loudon County Republican Hall of Fame. Sarah was a member of First Baptist Church in Philadelphia where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Sarah was a strong, passionate woman who loved being involved and would be so happy to brag on the latest accomplishment concerning her daughter or her grandchildren.
