K-State’s Gilliam Promoted to Associate Head Coach
MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie has promoted assistant coach Ebony Gilliam to associate head coach for the 2024-25 season. "Ebony has been an integral part of our success," said Mittie about Gilliam. “She has continued to grow in the profession and has been involved in every area of our program in our time at Kansas State. I look forward to her continued growth and expanded role on the staff.”
Great Bend Administrator apologizes for short stint in position
Last week, Great Bend City Administrator Brandon Anderson submitted his resignation, giving the city a 30-day notice. Hired last summer, Anderson’s stay with the city was just over a year. He had a chance to publicly address the Great Bend City Council at Monday's meeting for the first time stating the decision was based on personal reasons.

City of Lawrence mulls allowing alcohol to be consumed on the go downtown
Patrons could soon be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages as they roam certain areas of downtown Lawrence. With KU football games slated for Kansas City for at least the upcoming season while Memorial Stadium undergoes major renovations, “the City Commission asked staff to work with stakeholders to look into a Common Consumption Area (CCA) for Downtown Lawrence,” according to the meeting agenda.

KU Athletics Unveil Phase Two of Allen Fieldhouse Renovations
The University of Kansas announced that construction has begun for phase two of renovations for Allen Fieldhouse ahead of the its 70th season. Phase one of the $50 million renovation plan took place in March 2023, before last year’s season, and this year will share a similar schedule, according to a KU Athletics release. The renovations will give fans “a reimagined experience” of the iconic facility.
