Emporia Recreation Center pushes forward with new facility plans
The Emporia Recreation Center is moving full steam ahead with plans for a new facility, reflecting a growing demand for enhanced recreational amenities in the community. Rec center staff and steering committee members were stationed at the Lyon County Fair Tuesday evening, passing out surveys for a new round of community engagement on what the needs and wants are for a new center.

Kan. man dead, 3 hospitalized after truck rollover accident
RENO COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just after noon Wednesday in Reno County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2015 EZ Liner Truck, a Reno County Public Works Department vehicle, driven by Melvin Joseph Hoyle, 25, South Hutchinson, was eastbound on Pretty Prairie Road just east of High Point Road.

Lansing inmate to face another decade after found with meth in prison pasture
LANSING, Kan. (KCTV) - An inmate already behind bars in Lansing will spend a decade longer in prison after he was caught with meth in a prison cow pasture. Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson announced on Wednesday, Aug. 14, that Christopher Redgate, 39, an inmate who had been caught with methamphetamine, has been sentenced to 123 months - 10 years and 3 months - in state prison.
Interstate Fair and Rodeo Wednesday Event Schedule
There's a full day of events happening today at the Interstate Fair and Rodeo in Coffeyville. The livestock step into the ring today starting at 8am with the rabbit show. The sheep show happens at 9am. Both of those events takes place in the livestock arena. The poultry show takes place at 1pm in the Ron Stevenson building and the goat show will be in the livestock arena at 4pm.
