Rescue crews search for another missing swimming in the Neuse River
Wake County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a drowning on the Neuse River on Tuesday.At approximately 11:30 a.m., a call came in about a possible drowning near the Neuse River Greenway Trail and Loch Raven Parkway. According to witnesses, a man was in the water and never resurfaced.Eleven different agencies are on scene assisting the Wake County Sheriff's Office. That includes two dive teams -- one from Durham and the other from Durham County.This comes after a 32-year-old man drowned Sunday in a similar area.Neighbors said this sort of thing is happening too frequently."It's very shallow, but there is a place where it gets really deep, and I think that's probably what happened because you can't tell that it's coming up," Develynne Camack said.Camack said someone needs to put up a sign or something warning swimmers going into the river that it drops off dangerously.It remains too early to tell if that's what caused the problem in this case, but there have been four drownings in this area so far this year.
