Farmington honors local veterans in Engler Park
The City of Farmington continues to honor local veterans in Engler Park. Last week, the new Veterans Honor Walk was named in honor of Marine Staff Sargeant Trever Spink from Farmington. Spink was a Farmington High School graduate and member of the US Marine Corps. Throughout his military career, Spink served during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and completed two tours in Iraq. On June 16, 2004, Spink returned to Iraq to serve during Operation Iraqi Freedom but died on July 10th following a non-combat-related accident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. The Veterans Honor Walk is located near the Chandler/Vargo trail at Engler Park, across from the Play It Forward in the Parkland Playground. Banners honoring Farmington-area veterans can be seen throughout with additional ones to be hung as space allows.
