The weather pattern is mostly unchanged through the weekend. Still warm, still humid, still a chance for showers and storms. I don’t think the models are handling the extra shots for rain very well. I tend to think the graphics I’ve shown above are too sparsly peppered with showers and storms both this afternoon and overnight.

It’s been quite wet for the region for the last couple of days, and this trend is only supposed to continue for the next several days, thanks to a stationary front that has stalled to the northwest of our area. Although this front is keeping temperatures mild for summertime, this upper-level disturbance is packing a ton of moisture with it. Unfortunately, due to a large area of high pressure in the Atlantic Ocean, this area of disturbance is not expected to move for the next several days, bringing rounds and rounds of showers and thunderstorms. The good news of this high-pressure system is that it keeps tropical weather activity at bay.

Happy Sunday, I hope that your weekend is going well. We have quite a lot to talk about for this forecast, so let’s get into it. Looking out west, we have an extremely strong upper-level ridge that’s affecting areas as far north as Northern Canada and as far south as Southwestern Arizona. Temperatures are expected to run as high as 20 degrees Fehenight above average for this time of year. Combine this with drought conditions in the Northwest; wildfire conditions are expected over the coming days. Further south, monsoonal moisture has the southern Rockies on alert for flash flooding, especially in burn scar areas. Down in Florida, a high-pressure system in the Atlantic is allowing dust from the Sahara Desert to cause dirty rain, coating everything in dust and impacting the air quality.
