Chances continue to favor an unsettled week in terms of daily showers and thunderstorms across Southwest Louisiana.

National Weather Service Lake Charles Storm Warning Coordinator Doug Cramer said the risk for pockets of excessive rainfall are also increasing.

The good news, though, is temperatures are trending cooler — especially for the last week of July.

Cramer said an upper-level trough will remain in place for the next several days, helping to aid in daily showers and thunderstorms.

There is between a 10 and 30 percent chance for at least two inches of rain across much of southern Louisiana.

“Excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding,” Cramer said. “River and bayou flooding could also occur.”

Temperatures are expected in the high 80s Tuesday and Wednesday.
