Two new videos of reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler's arrest were released by Louisville Metro police on Thursday morning, with one showing the World No. 1 golfer being pushed against his car by an officer and handcuffed.

Scheffler, 27, was charged with felony second-degree assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic last Friday morning while trying to enter Valhalla Golf Club before the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship.

One of the videos released on Thursday morning shows a street pole view of the incident across the street from Valhalla's entrance. In the upper-left corner, arresting officer Det. Bryan Gillis can be seen running after Scheffler's vehicle before reaching through the driver-side window. Gillis removes Scheffler from his PGA-marked car and then shoves him against the vehicle, placing him in handcuffs shortly after.

Louisville police also released a 55-minute dashcam video from a police vehicle at the scene of the incident. However, Officer Gillis' bodycam was (conveniently) not on during Scheffler's arrest, leading to "corrective action" being taken against Gillis for violating police policy.

"In Louisville, around the country, but especially here in Louisville after the recent past, activating body-worn cameras is critically important for our police department to have evidence, to maintain the community's trust, to be transparent," Mayor Craig Greenberg said.

Gillis' inability to provide bodycam footage is even more notable considering his account of the incident differs from what Scheffler and ESPN's Jeff Darlington claimed happened.

According to the police report, Gillis claimed that Scheffler "refused to comply" with his instructions and "accelerated forward, dragging him to the ground."

The report also mentioned that Gillis suffered "pain, swelling, and abrasions to his left wrist and knee. He was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment by emergency medical personnel. Detective Gillis' uniform pants, valued at approximately $80, were damaged beyond repair."

In a statement released by Scheffler following his arrest, he stated he was "proceeding as directed by police officers" and that the entire incident was caused because of "a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do. I never intended to disregard any of the instructions."

Following the release of the two videos on Thursday morning, Scheffler's attorney made it clear the two-time major champion has no intention of settling the case with Louisville Metro police.

"Scottie Scheffler didn't do anything wrong," said Steve Romines, Scheffler's lawyer, on Thursday morning. "We're not interested in settling the case. We will either try it or it will be dismissed. It's very simple. All the evidence that continues to come out [only] continues to support what Scottie said all along. This was a chaotic situation and miscommunication, and he didn't do anything wrong."

Romines also confirmed to GOLF.com that Scheffler plans to plead "not guilty" to the charges.

Scheffler was released from a Louisville jail shortly after his arrest last Friday and returned to Valhalla for the second round of the PGA Championship. While Scheffler impressively fired a 5-under 66 on Friday just hours removed from being in a jail cell, he eventually ran out of gas on Saturday morning and wound up finishing tied for eighth place.

Scheffler is in Fort Worth, Texas for the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge this week after his arraignment was postponed to Monday, June 3. He tees off on Thursday from Colonial Country Club at 12:45 pm CT.

Romines was asked by the media whether he believes the charges against Scheffler will be dropped.

"I've been doing this [for] 30 years. I don't expect anything," Romines stated. "We're prepared to litigate the case if we need to. If we don't need to, fine, but our position remains the same. It'll either be dismissed or we'll go to trial."
