The St. John Center, a Louisville nonprofit focused on helping unhoused people overcome barriers to finding homes and build self-sufficiency, is constructing a new supportive housing complex near Preston Highway for people who "have been chronically homeless and have a disabling condition."

Executive Director Ra'Shann Martin said the property, which broke ground in March, will have 80 units and ample community space with services for its residents, including a medical facility run by Phoenix Health Care and a kitchenette stocked by Dare to Care. Each unit will have one bedroom and one bathroom and each floor will have a laundry room.

"The design specifications of the units of the building itself have been designed to meet the needs of individuals ... who may be experiencing a behavioral health crisis," Martin said.

Martin said the complex is scheduled to open by Spring 2025.

    Cost: $28 million.

Size: The site is more than six acres, said Ramona Vasta, Development Manager at LDG.
