    Two separate homicide cases in Louisville concluded with significant legal outcomes following the dedicated efforts of the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Homicide Unit

    Louisville, KY – According to the police officials, Chris Gordon faced trial this past week and was found guilty by a jury, subsequently receiving a life sentence for the homicide of Angelica James, which occurred on February 27, 2022. The incident began as a report of a vehicle accident with gunfire at 4101 Quiet Way, escalating to a fatal shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Angelica James suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, leading to her tragic death. Additionally, a 10-year-old child was injured with a gunshot to his hand and received medical treatment.

    In another case, Michael Smithers Jr. was convicted by a jury last week and sentenced to 25 years in prison for the homicide of Chatariona Harrison on February 2, 2018. The incident, reported at 2118 Grand, involved officers responding to a shooting where they found Chatariona Harrison critically injured from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries after being transported to U of L hospital.

    The Homicide Unit of LMPD continues to pursue justice with determination, aiming to apprehend perpetrators and provide closure to victims’ families. They emphasize the crucial role of community involvement, urging residents to report any suspicious activities or information that could aid ongoing investigations.
