Chances are you’ve heard of breast, lung, or skin cancer. For the more than 17,000 Americans who develop sarcoma every year, the first time they hear of this rare cancer will be when they are diagnosed. This understudied, underfunded cancer can develop anywhere in the body. While just one percent of adult cancers are sarcoma, sarcomas make up one in six childhood cancers.

For July, which is Sarcoma Awareness Month, the Sarcoma Foundation of America invites you to join us in raising awareness of the disease.

On Saturday, July 26, Louisville’s Churchill Downs will join landmarks and buildings across the country to light their exteriors yellow to promote sarcoma awareness.

The Louisville Race to Cure Sarcoma, held Saturday, August 10, will bring together local sarcoma patients, survivors, and caregivers to support research for better treatments and an end to sarcoma.
