    Gatorade Kentucky Basketball Player of Year: Here's where last 10 girls winners are now

    Have you wondered what happened to the last 10 girls winners of the Gatorade Kentucky Basketball Player of the Year award? One is still in high school, others are in college and at least one entered coaching.

    Here's a look at the last decade:

    ZaKiyah Johnson

    ZaKiyah Johnson, the reigning Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year who has won the award the last three years, helped Sacred Heart win its fourth consecutive state title last season. Johnson recently trimmed her prospective schools to six: Louisville, Kentucky, LSU, Notre Dame, South Carolina and USC. Johnson averaged 18.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game last season.

    Brooklynn Miles

    Brooklynn Miles won Gatorade state Player of the Year and Miss Basketball in 2021, when she scored 2,278 points and handed out 624 assists for Franklin County. As a senior, she averaged 15.8 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game. She played college basketball at Tennessee and at Kentucky. As a Wildcat, she averaged 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. She's headed to Pittsburgh for her final season of college basketball.

    Maddie Scherr

    Two-time Gatorade state Player of the Year Maddie Scherr left Ryle as Miss Basketball. She played in the 2020 McDonald's All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic. She led Ryle to the state tournament in 2018, 2019 and the COVID-19-shortened 2020 tournament. She led the Raiders to a title in 2019. She played her first two seasons at Oregon and her final two at Kentucky. She played in the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and 2022. She averaged 12.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last season for UK.

    Seygan Robins

    Seygan Robins, the 2017-18 Gatorade state Player of the Year, led Mercer County to consecutive state titles in 2017 and 2018. She averaged 14.6 points, 4.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game as a senior. She left Mercer County after scoring 2,677 points. She then played college basketball at Louisville before finishing her career at Tennessee-Martin, where she averaged 8.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

    Jaelynn Penn

    Jaelynn Penn, the 2016-17 Gatorade state Player of the Year, left Butler as one of the most decorated players in program history: winning two Sweet 16 state championships in 2014 and 2016 and compiling a 111-22 record. She averaged 14.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 steals a game as a senior. She played at Indiana for four seasons, averaging 11.6 points, 1.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. She concluded her collegiate career at UCLA, where she averaged 10.5 points, 1.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. Penn played professionally in Puerto Rico and worked as a graduate assistant on the UCLA coaching staff.

    Erin Boley

    Erin Boley, a three-time Gatorade state Player of the Year, averaged 24.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.7 assists per game as a senior for Elizabethtown. She played in the 2016 Jordan Brand Classic, earning East Team MVP honors. She played one season at Notre Dame before finishing her collegiate career at Oregon, where she averaged 10.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game over her three seasons.
