The Jefferson County Clerk's Office will be closed Tuesday "due to unexpected system outages," according to a release.

The release stated employees are trying to fix the issue, which was not specified, and apologized for the situation.

On Monday morning, a Facebook post stated that the Jefferson County Clerk's Office had to halt its services temporarily due to an "office-wide internet outage."

Two Louisville-area motor vehicle branches were closed earlier this month because the county clerk's office had to reduce a "significant backlog" that was caused by problems with the state's new motor vehicle registration system, Kentucky Automated Vehicle Information System (KAVIS), which was installed in January. The office's transition to the new system has been met with issues since its installation, including increased wait times for customers.
