Influencer Logan Paul and his popular brand Prime Hydration LLC, owned by Louisville-based Congo Brands , have once again come under legal fire.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee — a Colorado organization over the U.S. Olympic team — filed suit in the United States District Court for the Court of Colorado last week alleging Paul and business partner and fellow influencer KSI have violated trademark property rights.

Here's what we know about the lawsuit against the Louisville-area beverage company:

    What is the lawsuit about?

Documents filed state Prime Hydration has acted in "unlawful use of Olympic trademarks."

According to the lawsuit, prior to its filing, the Olympic Committee reached out to the beverage company and requested the discontinued use of trademarked items.

This suit comes just days before the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris kick off July 26.

Paul's brand is alleged to have been using trademarked items in a promotion featuring U.S.A. men's basketball and NBA player Kevin Durant.

The lawsuit describes Prime Hydration’s marketing campaign as "willful, deliberate, and in bad faith," in its use of trademarked phrases and symbols associated with the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, USA Today previously reported .

Some of the phrases alleged in the lawsuit to be used by Prime Hydration, a company known for its energy drinks and electrolyte beverages, that violate trademark rights include: "Going for Gold," "Olympic," "Olympian," and "Team USA."

What other legal trouble has Prime Hydration faced?

Prime Hydration has been involved in at least six legal battles this year alone.

In April, the company came under fire in a class action lawsuit about its ingredients. The lawsuit, filed April 8 against Prime Hydration LLC in the Southern District of New York, alleges the company's 12-ounce energy drinks, which are advertised as containing 200 milligrams of caffeine, actually have between 215-225 milligrams of caffeine, USA Today previously reported .

Paul and KSI's brand has also faced two lawsuits from Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. , a manufacturer of products such as creatine, whey, and other health-related products. One of the lawsuits was filed in Georgian Northern District Court and the most recent one, filed in June was filed in Kentucky Western District Court. These lawsuits also deal with trademark issues.

    Who is Logan Paul?

Logan Paul, a 29-year-old Youtuber, influencer and social media guru, is well known for his love of boxing and wrestling, among other ventures.

According to Paul's Instagram, he is an "artist — boxer — wrestler," the founder of Prime Hydration, and the host of "IMPAULSIVE with Logan Paul," a podcast.

Paul has fought against legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and participated in WWE WrestleMania 37 in a match against Kevin Owens, according to his WWE bio .

    What is Congo Brands?

Congo LLC , an employee service company that works with drink brands including Prime Hydration, Alani Nu and 3D Energy, is headquartered in Louisville.

In May 2023, the company expanded its Louisville presence, the Courier Journal previously reported . The company moved to a 110,000-square-foot space at 13551 Triton Park Blvd.

At that time, the company said it was undertaking an $8.25 million project that would expand its Louisville headquarters and create 500 "high wage" jobs over 10 years.
