Nostalgic, from team behind Naive, to close in the Highlands. Here's what we know

Just 17 months after opening, Nostalgic on Bardstown Road is closing.

The upscale restaurant and cocktail bar, which opened in Feb. 2023, announced “with a heavy heart” on Instagram that its last day of business will be July 28.

“As you can imagine, this was an incredibly difficult decision for us,” the post read.

Its sister restaurant, Naive Kitchen & Bar , will stay open at 1001 E. Washington St.

Both businesses are owned by Catherine MacDowall, who previously told the Courier Journal that Nostalgic would focus on "comfort food through childhood classics."

After opening on Valentine’s Day last year, Nostalgic’s menu became known for playing with popular childhood dishes, such as pot pies and chicken nuggets, and elevating those items.

The restaurant, 1306 Bardstown Road, connected to the 21-unit apartment-hotel Bellwether Hotel also gained fans for its cocktails, from classics to creative concoctions such as a Skittles Martini and an Oatmeal Cream Pie Old Fashioned.

In the days before July 28, Nostalgic invited followers to visit the restaurant to “remember all of the great times spent here.”

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your patronage and support,” the Instagram post continued. “The memories and moments we’ve shared together mean the world to us.”
