One of Dosker Manor's three buildings lost power around 4 p.m. Thursday, and it remained off until mid-Friday, leaving residents without air conditioning and electricity for more than 20 hours.

The building received emergency power Friday morning, which reactivated one of its elevators, said Louisville Metro Housing Authority public information officer Jailen Leavell. Full power was restored by 12:30 p.m.

Crews identified a water leak, which had damaged the electrical system in the building.

"Our maintenance team responded immediately, working diligently throughout the night to restore power," Leavell said in a statement.

LMHA employees distributed food to all resident units and had a room on the first floor where residents could get free food and water.

Dosker Manor is one of the public housing authority's most troubled complexes, with residents reporting mold, vermin, trash and safety issues. It is now slated for demolition , and LMHA is already preparing residents of Building A to relocate.

Louisville Fire also responded to reports of a structure fire in Building C Thursday evening. However, Louisville Fire Captain Tamara Stewart said it stemmed from a charcoal grill in the building. She added that structure fire alerts are triggered when high-rise building elevators are out and fire alarms go off as a precaution.

While there were reports of smoke in the building, a structure fire did not occur, Stewart said.
