Grand Island man sentenced for police chase, shutting himself in stranger’s bedroom
OMAHA, Neb. — A Grand Island man will spend a decade in prison for leading police on a chase and barricading himself inside a child’s room. On Wednesday, a federal judge sentenced 27-year-old Tesluach Gatkuoth to 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a gun. A U.S. Attorney’s Office news release says police officers tried to pull Gatkuoth over in Omaha for a traffic violation in 2022. The release says he sped away, eventually ditched his car and ran on foot and then broke into a family’s home.

Celebrating a century of care: Good Samaritan marks 100 years with community fest
KEARNEY,Neb. — CHI Health Good Samaritan will be celebrating its 100th birthday this Sunday, July 21, 11 am-1 pm. There will be a free, picnic lunch with hot dogs, chips, cupcakes, and ice cream. The Begats coming Thursday to Venue
“The Begats,” repeat performers at The Venue in Albion, will be returning to entertain in Albion this Thursday night, July 18. The Begats were started as a two-man acoustic-folk band by Collin Heiler and Matthew Teeslink, but the band has grown to a jam group of as many as eight musicians.
Season Ends The Way it Started For Senior Melons
The bad news is, the weather cut the Gothenburg Melons’ season a little short. The good news, they went out with a win. The Senior Melons traveled to Kearney on Tuesday, July 2 to take on the Kearney Jersey’s Seniors. Coincidentally, that is the team Gothenburg started the season against back on May 22. The season began with an 11-0 victory, and ended with a 16-8 win.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A former Grand Island day care director convicted of stealing thousands of dollars from the center was sentenced to five years probation on July 10. Andrew Moss, who ran St. Paul's Cornerstone Early Learning Center, pleaded guilty in April to theft by unlawful taking – more than $5,000.
