Late Score Costs McCook MNB Seniors After Late Charge From Norton
Monday's game against Norton Varsity American Legion was a heartbreaker for McCook MNB Seniors, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat at Norton. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when Logan Willour lined out, scoring one run. McCook MNB Seniors lost despite out-hitting Norton nine to five. Simon Garcia led McCook MNB Seniors with three hits. McCook MNB Seniors got on the board in the top of the third inning after Quentin Terry singled, and Norton committed an error, each scoring one run. Norton jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after McCook MNB Seniors committed an error, Kai Cop reached on catcher's interference, and Collin Springer hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. McCook MNB Seniors took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Garcia doubled, and Terry was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Norton went back into the lead after Springer singled, and Willour lined out, each scoring one run. Trenton Raile opened the game for McCook MNB Seniors. They surrendered five hits and five runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Jaden Boyle led things off on the bump for Norton.
