Updated Rowdy illustrations for the new semester
This semester, promote new programs, events and opportunities with new Rowdy the Roadrunner art. Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Communications and Marketing (UCM) team has developed two new two-dimensional Rowdy illustrations, adding to the much-used set that was released in September 2022. The new images include a Rowdy profile option and a “flexing” Rowdy.
CU Denver Students Benefit from State Grants that Support No-Cost Learning Materials
In higher education, the cost of textbooks and learning resources can often be a barrier to students’ academic success. CU Denver is committed to finding ways to offer low- or no-cost options. To support this focus, the university recently received a $5,000 open educational resources (OER) grant to help faculty revise and expand a digital music techniques class website so that students can more easily access course materials online for free.

Isolated severe storms and heavy rain across Colorado, possible strong gusts and hail in Denver
Flash flood potential will increase Tuesday afternoon and evening as thunderstorms develop. A few strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across I-25, with the greatest probability across the Eastern Plains. Some locations received over 3.0" of rain on Monday, so another day of moisture-filled storms has led to a First Alert Weather Day.Once again on Tuesday, monsoon moisture is in place. This is bringing abnormally moist air across the Front Range. Storm motion improves a bit Tuesday afternoon, but storms are still slow moving in general (10-20MPH). The burn scars are at greatest risk including the Alexander Mountain, Stone Canyon and Quarry. A flood watch will remain in effect until 11 PM Tuesday night as thunderstorms with heavy rain can produce 1-2" in as little as 30-45 minutes. The Palmer Divide including Douglas and Elbert Counties are included. A few rogue storms will be capable of producing hail up to 1.75" in diameter (golf ball size) and wind gusts to 60 MPH.
Residents of apartments forced out after Aurora deems building uninhabitable
Police in Aurora patrolled the property of the Fitzsimons Apartments on Tuesday morning as the deadline arrived for evicted residents to vacate the premises. The apartment complex located at Colfax Avenue and Nome Street, home to dozens of low-income residents, was forced to close by the City of Aurora.Those families were given less than a week to figure out where to go next after the City of Aurora served tenants with an eviction notice last Wednesday.The apartment complex, located at 1568 Nome Street has been deemed uninhabitable due to a history of poor conditions and longstanding code violations, according to the city.
