    RV careens 75 feet down slope into river after traveling off canyon road in Colorado

    A driver is lucky to have survived after their large RV went careening off of a Colorado canyon road, landing in the river below over the weekend.

    According to Loveland Fire Rescue Authorities, the large RV was traveling on West Highway 34 through Big Thompson canyon on Saturday afternoon when the accident occurred. The RV went off the road and continued an estimated 75 feet down an embankment before ending up in the Big Thompson River.

    The driver was able to escape the vehicle and was evaluated on scene by medical staff.

    Spartan Towing and Reliable Towing were tasked with removing the RV from the river, with swift-water personnel assisting their crews. Rescue crews were on-scene for six hours.

    Details about what happened that led to the vehicle being in the water were not released.
