River Fest in Skowhegan 2024
River Fest is the annual, multi-day event held every summer in Skowhegan, that celebrates life and recreation on the Kennebec River. This year’s event runs from July 31, starting with the Glowstick Paddle, and continues through the River Days Celebration on Aug. 3, and is designed to showcase the potential of the Kennebec River Gorge as the future home of the Skowhegan River Park.

ARUNDEL, Maine — The Maine Classic Car Museum will host “Astrocar,” an art exhibition opening on Friday, July 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. “We’re pleased to welcome back New England artist Michael Sjostedt to our museum with a fresh and exciting new series of automotive art,” said Gene Prentice, president of the Maine Classic Car Museum. “Over the past few years, Michael has created unique artworks and interactive workshops that have intrigued and delighted our museum visitors.”
Driver summonsed after fiery crash during thunderstorm in Lyman
LYMAN, Maine — Police say a man from Lyman crashed in Lyman Tuesday night after trying to pass several vehicles along Alfred Road in the middle of a heavy thunderstorm. Police say James Rouse, 32, then lost control of his red BMW just before 9 p.m. near Old Ben Davis Road and went off the road before the car rolled over multiple times. The car came to rest on its roof in a ditch before catching fire.
