Heat Advisory Issued for July 5 from Noon to 8 PM
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The National Weather Service has us under a July 5 heat advisory from noon to 8pm. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. The weather service advises drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Crozet Trails Crew Awarded Earth Flag by Sierra Club
The Crozet Trails Crew (CTC) was awarded an Earth Flag by the Piedmont Group of the Sierra Club June 22 in recognition of their work building and maintaining a trail system in and around Crozet. “We think the work the Crozet Trails Crew is doing is so positive and powerful that it deserves more recognition,” the Sierra Club explained in its press release. CTC president Terri Miyamoto affirmed “we are excited and honored to receive this recognition.” The award was presented by Sierra Club leaders Donna Shaunesey and Scott Ziemer at the point on Lickinghole Creek where a pedestrian bridge is planned that will unite the eastern and western sections of Crozet’s trail system.
Green Olive Tree Is Moving
August 1 is fast approaching. That’s the date when we must be completely moved out of our current location, where we have been since 2010. We will be moving into space at Music Today. We realize this is not ideal, since it means you will have to park on the north side of 240 and cross the street to come into the store. There are several handicapped parking spaces close to the entrance. We are grateful that we can continue to be a part of the Crozet community.

Dr. Christopher Holstege is a professor of Emergency Medicine at the UVA Health System joined the WINA Morning News to discuss firework injuries, safety precautions to avoid drowning and the impact of hallucinogenic drugs on the body during warmer temperatures and more. Saving lives through blood donation: The annual summer broadcasters for blood is Monday July 8th
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Blood donation is always critically important to supply our local hospitals for patients dealing with regular treatments or experiencing trauma. According to the American Red Cross, summer poses significant challenges for blood donation collection. Vacations and other seasonal activities result in a notable decline in donations, even though the need for blood remains high. Regular donors, including high school and university students who contribute up to 30% of the blood supply, are often unavailable during this time. “Our stable donors sometimes are away from their normal routines. They’re on vacation and most important to the schools, high schools and universities. They’re out, so we no longer have access to that very valuable component.”

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Nearly 80 people from more than 36 countries celebrated their Independence Day at Monticello in such a patriotic way, becoming U.S. citizens. “I’m just coming up on six months in this role.
