LOWELL, Ark. ( KNWA/KFTA ) — United States Representative Steve Womack, R-AR., discussed U.S. Senator J.D. Vance’s nomination as former President Donald Trump’s running mate at the Republican National Convention and the assassination attempt on Trump on Wednesday.

Womack said he thinks Vance and Trump will show a vision that connects with all Americans in the coming days highlighting inflation, border security and the economy.

He said the single biggest credential for a vice president is they can step into the role of president if necessary.

“And I think he checks that block. A little concerned that he hasn’t been in politics all that long but that really didn’t concern us much with President Trump and I thought he did a great job in the four years that he had that presidency.”

When asked about the attempted assassination of Trump, Womack said resorting to violence is unacceptable, and says he’s waiting on getting the answer to how it happened to prevent it happening in the future.
