Boy, 7, hospitalized after being shot in head on Dan Ryan Expressway
CHICAGO (CBS) — A 7-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was shot on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday morning.Illinois State Police say a vehicle was traveling down I-94 near 73rd Street around 2:40 a.m. when someone in another car started shooting at them – striking the boy who was a passenger.The driver of the struck car exited the expressway and stopped near 22nd and Michigan to call for help. The boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.State police closed the expressway's northbound lanes just before 4 a.m. to investigate. All lanes reopened around 4:53 a.m.Investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
Federal Sentence for Gun Sale in Michigan City
(South Bend, IN) - A Chicago man has been sentenced on a federal gun charge with ties to Michigan City. In January of last year, 42-year-old Allory Smith of Chicago sold a rifle, a handgun, and ammunition to a buyer in the Michigan City area. According to authorities, Smith referred to the rifle as a “real license to kill” because he believed it had previously been reported stolen. With several prior felony convictions, Smith is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Motorcycle rider dies after crash on Edens Expy. near Skokie, Illinois State Police say
A motorcycle rider died after a fiery crash on the Edens Expressway in the north suburbs, Illinois State Police said.ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. The rider was rushed to the hospital where they later died.Video shows the bike and pieces of metal scattered across the road.Traffic was diverted off the expressway to Skokie Avenue up until 12:25 a.m. when all lanes were reopened, ISP said.No information was immediately available about the rider who died.
