CHARLES COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now) — Maryland State Police (MSP) have released the names of the two people who were killed in a crash in Charles County Wednesday.

The victims were identified as 81-year-old Norma Matthews, of Lowell, Massachusetts, and 86-year-old Virginia Licata, of Blackwood, New Jersey.

The crash happened at around 1:45 p.m. on Route 301 and Popes Creek Road, in Faulkner.

MSP said their preliminary investigation revealed that Matthews was driving a Toyota Camry on Popes Creek Road and was trying to cross Route 301.
