Local couple invests in Downtown Warren promoting tourism
Keith and Jill Gunther are real estate developers who have flipped many residential properties in the Valley and The Downtown Getaway is their latest project. This newly renovated 2000 square foot flat in the Boyle Building, was built in 1931 by Attorney Boyle for his law offices in Downtown Warren. It was once office space but now offers 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, a fully equipped kitchen, and a recreational space with a pool table.
Penguins junior named YSU Scholar Athlete
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State University junior Taylor Berry is being recognized as a YSU Scholar Athlete. Berry started all 17 games last year for the women’s soccer team. She took 24 shots, scored three times with three assists, and finished the season with nine total points.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio likely to close Cleveland or Lorain County locations
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio (BGCNEO) are likely to close locations due to funding loss. In late May, the Clubs announced they were losing $3 million in federal funding — $2.5 million from Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) funds, and $500,000 from federal pass-through funds through local schools. The organization launched the Save Our Clubs campaign, but CEO Allen Smith told The Land the funding gap has not been completely closed.

Police investigating multiple reports of gunfire in Youngstown over the weekend
Youngstown Police were busy over the weekend investigating multiple reports of gunfire around the city. Early Saturday morning, officers were called to the 500 block block of N. Richview Avenue a little after 5 am for a report of gunfire. Police located seven spent 9mm shell casings on the at Manhatten and Smithfield avenues.
Hot dogs recalled because of lack of inspection
CLEVELAND, Ohio – AW Farms is recalling about 6,900 pounds of hot-dog products produced without federal inspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The Argillite, Kentucky, company produced the ready-to-eat hot dogs on various dates since approximately May 30, the FSIS said.
