PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- CBS News Philadelphia started investigating the issues surrounding bike lanes in the city back in April and now, during the summer months, data shows it's the deadliest time of the year for cyclists.Earlier this week, 30-year-old Barbara Friedes, a doctor at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was hit and killed while riding her bike in Rittenhouse Square. Two Women in Separate Incidents, Each with Probation Warrants Set off License Plate Reader Notifications Jailed
Back to back arrests of two women with arrest warrants whose license plates set off notifications to police were jailed in separate incidents earlier this week. According to police, on July 15 just before 7 pm., an officer on patrol on the 200 block S. Main street was notified of a hit via the automatic license plate reader on a vehicle with a registration suspended for insurance cancellation. The officer then observed the same vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the subject vehicle. Upon confirming that the operator of the vehicle had an active arrest warrant issued by Bucks County Adult Probation, the officer arrested the 42-year-old woman from Yardley on the warrant. The woman was processed and remanded to Bucks County Prison. The vehicle was released to a family member. Additional motor vehicle violations may be filed.

2 kids break arms after intoxicated driver hits utility pole, N.J. cops say
A motorist and two kids were treated for serious injuries after a car ran off a Gloucester County roadway and struck a utility pole Thursday night, police said. Sean P. Asman, 31, of Audubon, was driving east on Hurffville Grenloch Road in Washington Township shortly before 6 p.m. when his car left the road and hit the pole near Quay Park, according to township police.
