84-year-old Lower Merion woman who walked away from senior care community found dead

Lower Merion police say 84-year-old Nadine Beech was found dead in Bryn Mawr Tuesday afternoon.

Officials did not provide any additional details, other than their thoughts and condolences are with Beech’s family.

LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Lower Merion police are asking for the public’s help finding an 84-year-old woman who has been missing since she walked out of a retirement community Monday morning.

Sgt. Michael Keenan says Lower Merion police have been searching for Nadine Beech, using everything at their disposal, since she was reported missing around 3 p.m. So far, they have found no sign of her.

“If you're in this area or in the Main Line area, look at your cameras, look at your property, look at your detached structures or your sheds or guest house or anything of that nature,” Keenan said.

He says Beech walked out of Waverly Heights, a senior living community in Gladwyne, around 10:15 a.m., wearing a white, short-sleeved blouse, white capri pants, a denim baseball cap and sunglasses.

“She is without money. She is without a cell phone. She is unfamiliar and new to the area and would not know the geography or would not know landmarks,” Keenan said.

Keenan says Beech had just moved in at the facility about a week and a half ago.

“She was free to come and go,” said Waverly Heights CEO Tom Garvin. “She was assessed on admission, on the information provided by the family, there was no risk of this type of behavior.”

Beech was last seen on the 700 block of Morris Road in Bryn Mawr, around 11:30 a.m. by a housekeeper who said she seemed confused but refused help.
