Bailey Ober allows 1 hit in 8 innings to lead the Tigers past the Twins 5-0
DETROIT (AP) — Bailey Ober allowed one hit in eight scoreless innings, and the Minnesota Twins beat Detroit 5-0 on Sunday to win the weekend and season series against the Tigers. Ober (10-5) finished with a career-best 11 strikeouts, his third time this season reaching double digits. Not bad for a pitcher who wasn’t feeling well Sunday morning and wasn’t certain he could pitch. “I didn’t feel great physically, but I kept getting good results, so we kept doing what we were doing,” Ober said. Willi Castro and Manuel Margot each had three hits for the Twins, who went 2 for 15 with runners in scoring position. Minnesota won two of three to finish 7-6 against Detroit.

Twins catcher Christian Vazquez showed a ridiculously outside target against Javy Báez and of course it worked
For the money, there isn’t really a worse hitter than Tigers shortstop Javy Báez. He ranks near (or at) the bottom in virtually every hitting metric this season, and his abysmal plate discipline makes for an easy matchup whenever a pitcher gets Báez in a two-strike count.

It’s time for the Twins to move on from Kyle Farmer
Kyle Farmer’s fate feels inevitable at this point, which is unfortunate but honestly it’s probably best for the team moving forward. There's no way to sugarcoat it: Farmer has been really bad this year. His .189 batting average is the worst among Twins hitters with any substantial playing...

Update on the kicking competition from Vikings training camp
Of course, the most underrated but exciting part of the football game is the kicking. Okay, maybe not for Vikings fans, given their history. Despite that, there is an open competition for the starting kicking job for the Vikings, and it is worth following after the investment in the position. According to Will Ragatz of Bring Me News, there has been a clear leader to start training camp for the Minnesota Vikings. 2024 NFL Draft pick Will Reichard out of Alabam has been a perfect five-for-five to start training camp. Meanwhile, free agent signing John Parker Romo has started three-for-four, with the one miss being a wide left mishap. Whenever a team drafts a kicker, it is often met with questions, ones we asked when the pick was made and analyzed. The position is full of free agent options and other players who could be signed as UDFAs, but if Reichard is proven to be a consistent piece for the team, then perhaps he was worth the pick. We will leave this discourse open for more down the road.
