Applications are now open for Free Certified Nurse Aide Program

Applications must be received by August 1, 2024 , to be accepted into the next program.

LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWTI) – Lewis County Health System has announced they are accepting applications for its next Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) training program.

This course, which is New York State-approved, will prepare students for Nurse Assistant certification and includes both classroom and clinical instruction in resident care. Students practice taking vital signs, and assisting residents with mobility and resident hygiene in the skills lab. Students can interact with the residents of the Residential Health Care Facility during the clinical experience.

CNAs are caregivers who provide patients with assistance with activities of daily living and basic needs. CNAs are required to have good communication skills, and professionalism and to have a positive relationship with residents. The training program is a gateway into the medical field or nursing programs.

Applicants must be able to pass a drug test, background screening, and physical.

Applications are available on the health system website HERE or in the Human Resources Department at Lewis County Health System, 7785 N. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367.
