City Of Mobile Opens New Playground At Tricentennial Park
Officials recently held an opening ceremony for the new playground at Frederick D. Richardson Jr. Tricentennial Park, and the park has already been recognized as a Project of Excellence in PlayCore’s National Demonstration Site Network due to a unique design, WKRG reports. The park is designed in a figure eight pattern, and a sign showing the park’s recognition explains that it meets the “best practices in youth fitness through sliding, swinging, spinning, climbing, brachiating and balancing.”
Business Expo Set For Mobile
The Mobile Chamber is holding its next Business Expo on August 15 at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Mobile Convention Center Exhibit Hall. Called “Mobile’s largest business-to-business trade show” by the chamber, it is to feature more than 200 exhibitors showcasing new products and services, along with business resources, food and beverage samples from local vendors, and more. Digital Marketing Bootcamp Coming To Innovation Portal
The Alabama Small Business Development Center Network is hosting a free Digital Marketing Bootcamp at Innovation Portal in Mobile on August 14 at 8:30-11:30 a.m. The bootcamp will feature guest speaker Jacqui Jones, CEO of One Degree Marketing. It will cover the fundamentals needed to tell a story and connect with online audiences, from understanding customers and mapping their buyers’ journey to mastering social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Attendees will also learn how to design a website optimized for search engines and local audiences, along with other key strategies to build a powerful online presence.
Downtown Mobile Restaurant And Retail News
The Downtown Mobile Alliance recently announced restaurant expansions and retail news in the Downtown Lowdown. Chuck’s Fish is adding a bar and additional seating to the vacant space next door, with the expansion expected to be complete by the end of July. On the same block of Dauphin Street, Grace is also expanding, creating space for large gatherings, private events and general overflow seating when demand is high. Additionally, signs announcing the opening of BND Clothing were posted at 362 Dauphin Street, the former location of the Tres menswear boutique.
Cozumel Mexican Grill Opens Fairhope Location
Cozumel Mexican Grill of Fairhope has opened at 18177 Wright Boulevard. This is the third location for Kate Hurtado, who says the restaurant is a “family owned Mexican restaurant with deep roots into Mexican cuisine.” It is focused on providing a good atmosphere and meals with the “traditional essence of Mexican culture.” The restaurant’s other locations are in Foley and Loxley.
Mobile District completes project in historic Selma on bank along Edmund Pettus Bridge

The Mobile District participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the City of Selma, Alabama, on July 8, 2024, to celebrate the completion of Project 14, which stabilized the bank behind the historic train depot.
