Loyalsock Township, Pa. — For over two decades, the BLaST IU17 has been holding a Fourth of July parade to celebrate America, and to bring the community together. This year's festivities saw 180 students and 90 staff members descend upon the track at Schick Elementary School in Loyalsock, as patriotic music played over the loudspeakers.

"The students look forward to this event each year, because they get to participate in an event in which the community comes to enjoy, and to show their patriotism and celebrate inclusivity," said Erica Hoyt, special education supervisor.

Lycoming County Commissioners Scott Metzger and Mark Mussina were among those in attendance.

"These young adults showed beautiful patriotism for their love of this great country," Metzger said. "Their futures and attitudes are bright and inspirational."

"It's such a cool event," Mussina added. "Blast does so much for inclusion of people with diverse abilities. This is a fun way to celebrate it."
