City leaders break ground on new mixed-use development in downtown Ely
ELY, Iowa — A new mixed-use development is coming to the City of Ely. It's called "Main Street Legacy". City leaders broke ground Monday afternoon for the $7 million project. The project calls for both housing and storefronts on the corner of Dows Street and Main Street in the downtown area.

Police identify suspect in weekend standoff incident
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Cedar Rapids Police have identified the man charged in relation to a standoff incident that occurred Saturday evening. Police say officers had attempted to make a traffic stop around 6:12 pm, when the driver refused to stop and instead eluded officials, driving in excess of 100 mph in a 30 mph zone. The suspect eventually ran into a home on Rogers Rd NW and barricaded himself inside. The standoff ended at approximately 10:05 pm.
Work on Mississippi River bridge at Lansing to resume
Construction will resume soon on the new bridge over the Mississippi River at Lansing. Work was suspended in early June due to high water river levels, and then flooding. Pete Hjelmstad, a field service coordinator for the Iowa DOT, says there’s clean up to do before work on the bridge can restart.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Gunshots in an Iowa mall sent people running Monday and one person was injured and expected to survive, police and witnesses say.
