A Lubbock store that has dressed to impress since 2001 is closing soon.

Cindy Hagerman started Bella's Bridal, Prom & Quinceañera, 3501 50th St., in 2001 after beginning her career as a consultant in 1996. It will close for the final time in mid-December, though an exact date was not given.

"Bella's has been a local staple in our community servicing Brides to Prom girls for 25+years, with this said the cost of doing business in this economy has become a huge burden and this is a burden we have chosen not to bear any further," owners Donna and Cindy stated in a social media post. "The online sales have drastically changed the look of the bridal industry and how it works. Bella's has not made this decision lightly and with many tears we have decided that we will be closing Bella's.

The closing announcement on social media brought comments from former employees and customers. People shared photos from their weddings, proms and quinceañeras, and thanked the business for helping them in the past.

"Thank you to the Lubbock community for supporting our local business for over 2 decades, we will miss the fun dress up days with you and the smiles we have created," the owners stated in the post. "This is not a sad moment for us, this a chance for the ladies that created Bella's to finally get to relax and enjoy the life they have built."

A liquidation sale began on Oct. 4 and is ongoing. The sale offers 50% off of bridal gowns and jewelry, $700 quinceañera dresses, $30 veils and shoes, and $50 headpieces and crowns. Appointment bookings are still available online now through Nov. 4, and after that will be available for walk-in service only.
