LUB BOCK, Texas — The official opening of the City of Lubbock splash pads is less than a week away. The City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation shared a look at what the community can expect with Monday’s opening.

All three splash pads are free to use and ADA-accessible, which means people of all abilities can use them.

The City of Lubbock outlined the features of each splash pad in the Hub City.

Mae Simmons Splash Pad – 1301 East 24th Street

The splash pad features water rings creating ribbons of water. A fill-and-spill bucket builds anticipation every time the bucket overflows with water. The petal-shaped sprayers are gentle for anyone to enjoy, the City of Lubbock said.

The park includes misters, showers and a crystal dome that produces gentle sprays. Ground sprayers create a multi-dimensional aspect of cooling. The City of Lubbock said its favorite feature is the LBK water tower tidal tank.

Rodgers Splash Pad – 3200 Bates Street

The Rodgers Splash Pad includes several fill-and-spill buckets. Contraptions such as the spin-a-round, the super loop and the twinkle twists produce gentle showers.

The City of Lubbock shared the benefits of the splash pads as they can be safer than swimming pools. The recirculation system sanitized the water using chlorine and ultraviolet treatments, which makes it safer for those who play at the splash pads.

The splash pads include activation buttons that manage water consumption and only allow the splash pads to run when activated.

The splash pads will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Mondays from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
