LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department on Friday announced that an arrest was made in connection with the deadly shooting of 16-year-old Rudy Romo-Rodriguez.
19-year-old Christopher Acevedo II was taken into custody on Friday just before 7:00 p.m. in the 700 block of Main Street, said LPD.
Related: 16-year-old killed in North Lubbock shooting, police seeking information LPD said officers were called to the 2500 block of Cornell Street early Monday morning for shots fired. Romo-Ramirez was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead on scene. LPD said it appeared Romo-Ramirez was “with a large group of individuals when the shots were fired.” Police said the group left the area by the time officers arrived.
Acevedo was charged with manslaughter. He was transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $300,000 bond.

(LUBBOCK, TX) – A 19-year-old is in custody, charged with manslaughter in a North Lubbock
shooting that left 16-year-old Rudy Romo Ramirez dead.
Lubbock Police responded to the 2500 block of Cornell Street on July 1st following a report of
shots fired at 12:44 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located Romo-Ramirez with a gunshot wound. He
was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears Romo-Ramirez was with a large group
of individuals when the shots were fired. The individuals within the group who were present at
the time of the shooting fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.
Following multiple days of investigation by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit and
the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center, investigators were able to obtain enough evidence to
secure a warrant for Christopher Acevedo II. He was taken into custody on July 5th at 6:58 p.m.
in the 800 block of Main Street without incident. He was transported to the Lubbock County
Detention Center where he is held on a $300,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
