United Family to host school supply drive for Lubbock-area schools

LUBBOCK, Texas — The United Family announced in a press release it will partner with Lubbock-area school districts to host a school supply drive fundraising for local students in need.

The release said the school supply drive will run from July 17 to July 30.

Similar to past drives, guests are encouraged to donate at the register instead of purchasing physical school supplies for donation barrels. The release said the process will allow guests to donate any amount at the register when purchasing groceries at any United Supermarkets, Market Street or Amigos location.

Regional vice president of The United Family, Mark Yowell expressed, “We are so proud to once again partner with our surrounding school district to help raise money for school supplies.” Yowell mentioned new school supplies contribute to the excitement of a new school year, but it can also be a point of financial stress for many families.

“The money we raise will help ensure each benefiting child is offered an opportunity for success in the classroom this year,” said Yowell.

The United Family kicked off the fundraiser by hosting school representatives from each participating district for a mini-shopping spree. According to the release, those who attended were provided a gift card for $150 for school supply shopping for students in their districts.

School districts that will benefit from the supply drive include Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, Frenship ISD, Roosevelt ISD, Slaton ISD and Shallowater ISD.
