Lubbock-area school supply giveaways and events

LUBBOCK, Texas — As a new school year approaches, parents are gearing up to tackle long supply lists. Luckily, several groups in Lubbock and surrounding areas will host supply giveaways and events to provide some relief.

EverythingLubbock.com created a list of giveaways in the area:

• Wreck ‘Em Tire 3rd Annual Backpack Giveaway
  • July 27 from 1 p.m. until when supplies are gone at 2920 4th St. Backpacks will have supplies inside and there will be free snow cones and hotdogs (students must be present).
• Bar EO Back To School Bash
  • July 28 at 2 p.m. at 2918 4th St. Backpacks with supplies on a first come, first serve basis, free food, activities and more (students must be present).
• Back 2 School Bash – More Than Music ENT
  • Aug. 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 6402 E. 19th St. There will be free food, live music and school supplies on a first come, first serve basis.
• Back 2 School Bash with TTU
  • Aug. 3 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Everything is free; there will be immunizations, backpacks, haircuts and more (students must be present to receive backpack). Those who sign up for the Lubbock Public Library Summer Reading Program can receive a free Citibus pass to attend the event – good until Aug. 13.
• Back 2 School Vendor Event and Backpack Giveaway :
  • Aug. 4 from 1 to 7 p.m. at 3206 34th St. Suite A. The event will be hosted by Bad & Boujee Bundles, SuperFly Kutz and Beauty Bar X.
• LOFT 22 Back 2 School Bash
  • Aug. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 7702 FM 179 Suites 1 and 2. The salon will offer 10 free backpacks and lunchboxes, as well as $10 haircuts and tons of vendors
• Back 2 School Bash
  • Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mahon Park. There will be free haircuts, backpacks, supplies, food and games.
• Abernathy Back To School Supply Giveaway
  • Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Abernathy ISD High School parking lot. Presented by the Abernathy Ministerial Alliance, the event will feature food, fun and free school supplies for PreK-12 students (students must be present).
• 751 Girls Inaugural Backpack Giveaway
  • Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4622 34th St. Suite B. There will be 50 bags full of school supplies available on a first come, first serve basis.
• Back To School Haircut Drive
  • Aug. 11 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Rendezvous Hair Studio 1102 Slide Rd., Unit 31. Free haircuts, free hotdogs, vendors and more.
